Suor Angelica and Il Tabarro (Suor Dolcina, Midinettes, Soprano Ensemble)
It was such fun working with a bevy of talented people for these shows. It’s my second season with Opera Delaware and I couldn’t have asked for a better show to be involved with then Suor Angelica. Such a tight knit female cast, Suor Dolcina was a blast and even more special that it was my first secondary role with a major company.
2018 FESTIVAL | PUCCINI
Welcome to the 2018 Festival at The Grand Opera House, a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Puccini’s beloved Il Trittico with our own little twist. (We like to call it Il Tritticoplus one, divided by two.)
For this spring's Festival (April 28-May 6, 2018) at Wilmington's Grand Opera House, we have harvested a half dozen one-acts from Puccini masterpieces, plus a Puccini-inspired extra. The tragedies Il Tabarro (The Cloak) and Suor Angelica (Sister Angelica), which make up the first two acts of Il Trittico, will be presented together in one enthralling performance. Then, for a contemporary twist, the uproarious Gianni Schicchi (the third act of the Triptych) will be paired with Buoso’s Ghost, Michael Ching’s hilarious “sequel” to Schicchi. Both main-stage performances are set in 1918, which is the year Il Trittico premiered at The Metropolitan Opera.
The Festival will also include Opera Uncorked with Swigg: A Flight of Puccini, a special concert performance with piano at our Riverfront Studio. Festival stars will take on Act I of La Bohème, Act II of Tosca, and Act III of Madama Butterfly, all paired with an optional wine tasting. That’s seven glorious acts over two weekends. Get your tickets early, and tell your friends!
